I realized after it got here that this is the same brand as my pony's half pad which I love. It seems good to handle full size differences of the horses back and the saddle (made my narrow tree saddle fit a wide/flat backed horse great, could probably fill in the space between a narrow back and medium or wide tree saddle). I don't think it's the best option to fill any subtle size differences or just be extra padding if your saddle fits your horse already. I hoped to put extra padding on my 16hh TB that doesn't have much of a top line at the moment and it made my saddle fit incorrectly.Perfect half pad for everyday riding, lesson programs, and pretty much for anything!! Super soft and nicely padded!It works. BUT, it will fit best on a high withered horse (ie. NOT a low withered QH). It will retain the high-wither shape regardless of the shape of the back, tilting your saddle up somewhat from the front.This is the third half pad I've used on my shark finned TB/QH and has worked the best so far. Its cut works to keep the saddle up even with a breastplate attached and he's been far more comfortable with this than with what I have used in the pastGreat pad!! I have a wide tree Toulouse and one of my horses was a little underweight and being 18 she is losing her topline so I got this pad in the hopes to fill in the gap between my saddle and her withers. It does the job!!i really like this half pad so far. its the right thickness and structurally a lot sturdier than my old half pad that I've used for the last 4 years. My horse doesn't have high withers as he is a Clydesdale/TB but I like how this pad keeps the saddle off of his withers anyway. I have a 17 inch saddle and the pad fits great with some room to spare. My horse seems happy with it which makes me happy :)this is a thick pad that holds it's shape well. Very good if you want to create a channel under the saddle and not press directly down on your horse's back.This is just what my skinny guy needed to get his saddle to fit better until he puts on some more weight. It IS very thick. I had to size up on his girth! (The one I was using was on the small side.) Very pleased with this purchase.
