Rugged and comfortable, lightweight and versatile, the Static V is an ideal pad for avid backpackers and casual campers looking for performance at an entry-level price. The body-mapped V chamber design limits air movement to help maintain insulating performance and ergonomic comfort, dynamic side rails cradle you on the pad, and the rugged material is great if you want to sleep on the ground under the stars. The Static V quickly inflates in just 10-15 breaths, packs up small, and weighs only 18 ounces.

1.5 year UPDATE:Multiple camping trips (5+), in-house sleeps, two backpacking trips, and complete male-toddler durability testing (complete. Kid LOVES it) - thing is holding up like a champ, doesn't even show wear. comes with a patch kit; don't need it. I'd love to test that...but will need to wait awhile. It deploys fast, isn't hard to roll up (even well-meaning friends don't screw it up too bad), is fun if you just want to lay on the ground for a nap (what? you don't?), and super comfy. No leaks at all - hips are still off the ground in the morning (less so, by a bit) and I'm still 200 pounds (ok, maybe 206...the wife's a swell cook)The Lux version is very large/capacious - takes more than twice as much breath (still under 1 minute), but sleeps like a matress. Much bigger, still very compact and EASY to pack. Side-sleepers are likely to find it worth while - the static V requires....aiming..., to not go off an edge, so your mind is attending to that as you sleep.CON: These things are LOUD in a tent! Crinkle scrape! The air pockets are sound tubes, the fabric is just very....loud. Feels smooth, but somehow each fiber catches whatever is on top. (Too smooth - con #2: too slippery! Spent a night on a hillside because we had to stop for the night, it was warm and comfy - but have you tried caterpillaring uphill on a slick surface, wearing a banana peel mummy bag?! It's ridiculous. Worst. All night. The worst.) It's loud enough to wake light sleepers in the tent.however, I got it as a light-weight, get-the-hip-off-the-ground sleep pad: it's still 5 stars for it's sheer brilliance. If they ever fix the slip and the sound, I will STRONGLY consider gifting the ones I own and getting the upgrade.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Far be it from me to use the term genius lightly! But this thing is nothing short of that. Is so lightweight, so small, and unfolds into such a flat pancake sheet of cloth that everyone's initial reaction is no way. There is no way this thing is going to blow up to be a pad that can hold anyone's wait let alone a grown man. I'm 6 2 and 200 pounds and I say with elation ecstasy and exuberance that my hip is off the ground! I am a big side sleeper and I cannot believe it I can't believe I'm saying it but this thing keeps me off the ground more than any pad I've used yet.I love the feel the cloth, I love the ease of the valve, I can blow this thing up at eight breaths but that's not really the key don't focus on the number of breaths go for speed. I can blow this thing up in 30 seconds, are there any self inflating pads they can go close? All of these dips and valleys in the pad not only add to the Comfort Inn contrib your body they allow the pad to expand much higher in use much less air - that means you get a thicker pad for way less than half the breath! It's amazing. The insulated pad is amazingly warm - truly. I have the insulated Static V, the standard, and the Lux. All excel at what they do - I recommend this product to friends. about insulated version: I went out in late on this thing on the cold cement on a cold night and whatever was touching this pad with the warmest thing. I was wearing clothes a sweater and a blanket! It really works it's really true the website talks about this thing as if it was state of the art, & I so agree! Mind blowingI got the camo and I love it! I was worried that it would be somehow different or inferior, it's not at all. It's an awesome piece of equipment and I don't see why I would get the shiny bright red one over this awesome forest looking thing. Besides, you don't want people knowing where you sleep!Because of the baffles, the air doesn't come out very easily and in fact it goes in kind of cool, when you blow in you can see the air going into the mat well after you finish the breath. In the same way if you just try and roll the air out of the pad some will stick in the bottom, so you do have to be fairly intentional with how you get the air out. It isn't hard it's just not as intuitive. You just fold it in half lengthwise and either roll it up really quick or flatten it with your arm from the ends to the top. Then fold it again in half and roll up. Don't worry too much about getting it perfect, or the slippage as you roll - it'll be fine, the bag is roomy enough. This was a great pad for many trips but then started leaking. I put the pad in the bathtub to find the leak and lo and behold, it was from the valve. I can patch a hole but there is nothing to do when it comes to the valve. I used it on 6 different trips and really liked it, until it started leaking.I found that the problem was in the valve.I contacted Klymit and they are sending me a new valve assembly. They were very responsive and sent me the valve and instructions for repairing the pad.Wow in my opinion this sleeping mat is as good as the more expensive name brands. Klymit has created a quality product at a much more reasonable price. This is what one of these should cost.I took this on a 6-day canoe trip in the boundary waters and used it every night...I had to setup and pack up each day so it got lots of use. This sleeping mat airs up in around 15 or less breaths and held its air wonderfully.I am a side sleeper and usually with most mats my hip bone will touch the hard floor sometime throughout the night and I will wake up in pain. Not with this mat. I never felt the floor. I am around 190lbs for reference. This camping mat was also not noisy like I have read some of the more expensive and specially the even more light weight brands. (this thing is 18oz so it’s already extremely light). I was worried about noise but I didn't experience any and I move around a lot when I sleep. The main gripe I have is that it’s a beast to try and fold up. It’s nearly impossible to get all the air out. It scares me to not get all the air out because you have to compress it extremely tight to put it in its bag and make it small. That tight compression I worry could pop something if there is still air in it. I think this might be a problem with all of these air core type mats but I have not tried other brands. Although guys I camp with have different brands and the same trouble getting all the air out.If you were camping and had to cut and run quickly this would be something that would slow you down. While I hate packing this up I love the comfort and convenience it provides. At 18oz's its the perfect mat for the price. They sell a V2 that is 16oz's and a bit more expensive, but the top side of the mat has a thinner quality fabric in order to shave off those 2oz's. Since I am not an obsessive ounce counter when it comes to hiking I chose the stronger fabric over the weight savings. After seeing how this compares to name brand more expensive mats I would highly recommend Klymit and save your money.Really really disappointed.Researched sleeping mats and finally bought myself the Static V as I am a side sleeper and a bad one at that. Other reviews were great.Worked well for a while, light, comfortable.......then started deflating overnight. The valve was leaking. Contacted customer service who were great and offered to send me a replaceable valve kit. It never turned up.I am unable to repair the mat or use it, and because of having to wait for responses from the US for my issue it's now totally out of any returns or warranty period. At the time I also bought a much cheaper mat for my husband and the cheapo one is still going strong.Really very disappointed indeedgood build quality ..... But don't think that once you use it you will be able to deflate it sufficiently to go neatly back into the stuff sack. I recently went camping in the alps and you have to fight for about 30 minutes to get enough air out to get it back into the stuff sack. so not great for backpacking but maybe ok if camping for several nights somewhere where you don't have to keep packing and unpacking your mat.also please bear in mind it is quite narrow. so unless you have a sleeping bag that has the straps to hold the mat to the bag chances are you will slip off many times in the night.I've read this in a small sample of other reviews, but basically, I'd inflate mine up, have an incredible nights sleep for about 3 hours, then wake up cold because my mat had deflated to the point my body was touching the ground. Would then have to blow it up again in the middle of the night. Discovered later that the air leaked directly from the valve itself. Of course, I think this is an anomaly, and quite frankly, I'm going to return this one and buy another in the hope that solves it, as the nights sleep is very, VERY good for me as a back/side sleeper hybrid. Great piece of kit, just needs to work...After years of carrying around large bulky roll matts and self inflating matts I've finally found one that ticks all the boxes. This matt is hard wearing, keeps you off the ground and feels great. Its not hard to blow up at all and easy to deflate and roll away. Its light as a feather and rolls down to nothing.I’ve had various sleeping pads and inflatable air beds/mattresses over the years (usually opting for cheap and cheerful) this is by far the best nights sleep I’ve had under canvas. I needed something that packs really small for motorbike camping , it packs small weighs next to nothing and is great in the comfort department. I slept on it for 2 nights , i sleep on my side and can usually feel the floor but this kept me clear and comfortable. I didn’t have to add any air and at 6 fort and 17 stone it worked perfectly , top marks I’m no going to invest in a klymit pillow
