I have rather pale skin and dark hair and have tried many types of tanning lotions and pads. They've all done an okay job on my legs and arms but I have been disappointed in the way they look on my face. They have usually ended up looking too orange or too fake, and worse of all, splotchy if you don't apply them completely evenly all over which as many of you know is not as easy as it soundsI got these pads because I read about them in a magazine like Us or People or something like that. I usually don't get my cosmetics advice from a magazine but for some reason these caught my eye when they were described as adding glow to one's skin.So I ordered them, and I was really pleasantly surprised with the results when I tried them at home. The pads themselves are quite small and are very white in color. They turn a little darker as you smooth them over your face, neck and décolletage. At first I thought the pads were too small to cover that much area effectively but it was no problem.I noticed the difference seemingly within minutes, and more so as the day went on. It's not simply that your skin starts to have more color, it's that it really does glow with a healthy, sun-kissed look. (I know that tanning isn't good for your skin but you know what I mean about looking healthy with that kind of an outdoorsy glow.)I was really happy and I do plan on adding them to my morning routine. Or maybe I should clarify and say every other morning - these do get you quite tan so for me, I find that I get the look that I want by using them every other day. Note that you can use these at night or in the morning.I now find I can use little or not foundation or blush when I get ready to go out. It's nice because I have older skin and I think a lot of makeup can end up be more aging and unflattering and truly less is more.Recommended.I write for two reasons: You don't need to buy more expensive ones from a different place, and I'm a guy. First, some reviewers suggest you need to buy from fancier sources. Nope. They have a bad experience and suggest Amazon is selling lesser pads from Gross or ones made by someone else. I've bought from Sephora and various Amazon suppliers. Some have had slight tint, and some have varied in moistness. All have worked with no irritation (some irritation has occurred randomly). I've bought two packs of 20 and one of 50 on Amazon, and all have had control numbers and the same ingredients as from Sephora...but are cheaper. Why would Gross sell a lesser product to a few stores? Why would Amazon violate so many regulations and Gross' intellectual property rights? Observation bias and prejudice are not useful: A few bad (or good) experiences are not evidence of a conspiracy. Our skin, manufacturing, and product storage is idiosyncratic.Second, I'm a guy. Yeah, I'm told using these is odd for guys, but I'm pale and women have said they like my color with these. If I'm going on vacation or going to be outside, it's nice not to look like a vampire. And, more importantly, I'm not tempted anymore to zap myself with cancerous rays to try and look like tanned. These bring out the olive tone of my better-skinned Italian forefathers--no orange. For guys, shaving is an issue. I shave, use these on the face and down towards the shoulder, then add moisturizer after a bit as they dry my skin a little. They fade in just over a week (not using exfoliating face soap) and a bit faster on the areas I shave (not noticeable to others).My lovely, hippy mom worried about long-term safety, and my quick research satisfied me. DHA, the active ingredient is a chemical--a carbohydrate made from plants--that simulates a natural process, but a natural process caused by "natural" UV rays. It has been known for 100 years and approved for cosmetic use by the FDA for 40 years, and there is no scientific evidence of harm. So, no definitive evidence either way. This is a very personal choice, but we use too many chemicals to emulate normal processes for me to be bothered...especially, as a male, when the ladies like the outcome!My thoughts about what makes this product really unique...My husband and I both use these pads and have for a long time. They are streak free and they give your face a great natural tan look.My thoughts about the target audience for this product...Anyone who loves a bit of natural looking color will love these pads. We have been using them consistently for years.My thoughts about ways to use this product...Simply wipe them on your face...your neck, too, if you wish. I have never had a problem with streaking and I can't say enough about how natural this stuff makes your face look. Just remember to wash your hands when you are done and here's another tip...don't use them at night. Use them in the morning.My thoughts about the practical details...the realistic and workable things...about this product...I love the color and it really does last for quite a few days! They are easy to toss in a makeup bag when you travel. They are great for evening out a natural tan!Finally...what the potential buyer might enjoy about this product...Potential users might like the ease of use and the nice tan color you get from these.
