These pads are enormous. They are big flat panels that strap to your knees. There is almost no concavity to it where your knees strap in. That, paired with the sheer surface area of the plastic shell, really make it feel like you are just tying big flat panels to your knees. See my uploaded images.According to Destroyer's website, I measured for a medium at 14.5" circumference, 2 inches above the top of the kneecap. I really should have gotten small. I still think the small would have suffered the same "big flat panel" issue however. Maybe I'm crazy, but I would expect a knee pad to conform at least a little to the circular curvature around the knee. If not the plastic shell itself, then at least the padding. This would really help the kneepads fit more securely and protect the sides.Other than my disagreements on the big flat panel design, these are some pretty well made pads. The foam, the materials, construction, and the overall quality, are great -- it really feels like a good value. The straps are a thick, taut, and abundant elastic that feels as secure as two elastic straps could feel.At a glance, it seems that the two more expensive lines of knee pad Destroyer makes do not suffer from the lack of concavity. If I ever decide to spend more than $30 on kneepads, I will most certainly consider the Amateur and Pro series pads.
